I'm in a Mood Today: Poems About Feelings di John Foster
This is an excellent way to involve social and emotional curriculum into ELA and help students learn about feelings.
This collection of poems revolves around different animals. The poems tend to be more about general character and behavior rather than scientific. The poetry and water color illustrations targets this collection at primary students.
This poetry collection could be powerful for students who are working on animal reports. Students could read through this to find which animal they want to write about or could use the poems as part of a presentation.

This book may have been written for kids, but it is just as enjoyable for adults. Some of the poems are spooky, some are funny and some are just plain silly, but all of them are fun to read. Some of my favourites are: The Ghoul by Charles Thomson; Locking Up by Ian Serraillier; and The Cupboard on the Landing by John Coldwell.

Personal Reaction:
I loved this book. It was very visually appealing and grabbed my attention. It was semi difficult to read some with the language style in them, but it was a very enjoyable read when reading to children at bedtime.
Classroom Extension Ideas:
1. Read this story at a calming down time. Have discussions about the different colors in the story and see if the children relate to some of the bedtime poems.… (altro)
