- Mr. Forster was Vice-Principal of Keon Park Technical School in Melbourne and was the author of a number of published works. These include: Preston, Lands and People; Waranga; A Shire History; and The Central Goldfields. He is co-author with Colin Angus of The Ovens Valley, the editor of an abridged edition of E. M. Curr's Recollections of Squatting Life in Victoria, a regional editor of Volume 3 of the Victorian Department of Education's history, Vision and Realisation, and the editor of The Dillingham Letters.
Mr. Forster represented the Royal Historical Society of Victoria on a number of official occasions and gave lectures at many local historical societies throughout Victoria at various times. On 18 September, 1973 he was elected to the status of Fellow of the RHSV.
Mr. Forster and his wife are the publishers of Cypress Books which specialise in the publication of local history.
