I want to state that I received this book in exchange for an honest review.... And I am giving it 3 stars. Here is a blurb from Goodreads:

All of them are certain that she is the key to unlocking the legends of these powers, but Ava does not know herself what they are after; all the while being forced to choose between love and safety, and in whose arms she can find it.

The overall idea behind the storyline, with the Aztec Rituals and Biblical Lineages that age 4 times slower (@ least, as compared to the average human), and the overall quest for a "different type" of immortality, was pretty cool and different...... but that was about it for me. There simply was not enough action to keep me "hanging on" to each and every word......I really needed a little more. I felt like I just kept waiting for something to really happen, and sadly it never did. It was nicely written, although there were several editing issues throughout that made it difficult at times to follow. The concept of the book is very imaginative and the author is definitely talented at what she does...... I just felt that I needed to be on the edge of my seat and torn between a love triangle to which I see no real solution which is equivalent to "love triangle torture". Love triangle situations, that are properly written make SOME the best novels and when it came down to it,I just did not "believe" the love triangle that was built for the main character Ava and involved Damen and Travis. I just never "felt" it! I did believe for a while that maybe I would be rooting for Travis (the bad boy), but he let me down and did not redeem himself enough in my eyes. As for Damen..... the way he handled himself after saving Ava from nearly drowning at the beginning of the book, which was basically nothing, well.... he kind of lost me..... I never really felt it after that. Still, cool concept, and a sequel in the midst.... I may just have to see where the author takes it. 3 of 5 stars!!!… (altro)
