Tyler Makes Spaghetti! (Tyler and Tofu) di Tyler Florence
One of my case study child's funds of knowledge is making spaghetti sauce as a family the day after Christmas. I wanted to find a picture book that represented his funds of knowledge and this book captures it perfectly. I cannot wait to see his reaction when he puts on the chef's hat a apron that I got him.
Tyler Florence Family Meal is quite beautifully bound and full of robust flavors, great for hearty meals. The photographs are heart warming, and the ingredients are not bereft of meat.
The recipes are quite rich, and look to feed a large amount of people (hence the feeding-the-family theme).
Recommended for those who enjoy cooking hearty, meaty dishes for their large families.

Tyler dreamt about pancakes, and once he woke up he grabbed his dog, Tofu, and off they went to Mr. Jones' market. Mr. Jones helped Tyler grab all of the ingredients he needed for his pancakes, and he also helped explain where the ingredients came from. Once Tyler got back home, he mixed the batter and then his dad helped him make the best blueberry pancake breakfast possible!
This is good modern fantasy because it is realistic for Tyler to make pancakes with the help of his parents, but it is unrealistic in that a child this young would not know how to get ingredients all by himself. This book is also good because the world in which Tyler is in is realistic throughout the whole story.… (altro)
