NCLA Review - Mike Timmis, a Roman Catholic lawyer and businessman, followed Chuck Colson as Prison Fellowship chairman. He coordinates ministries in his hometown of Detroit, as well as ministries in Africa, Central and South America . This book is an autobiographical account of Timmis's spiritual awakening and commitment to Christ as a result of his encounter with evangelical faith. At a time when he had been struggling in his faith and in his marriage, he attended an evangelical dinner at the Country Club of Detroit. Moved, he prayed the prayer of commitment. This conversion led him to study the Bible with others and rediscover Catholicism. Timmis now travels the world as an ambassador for Christ. A very readable autobiography. However, the title may be misleading. The term "evangelical catholic" is sometimes used in Lutheran and other Protestant contexts to refer to a liturgically grounded spiritual renewal. Timmis's narrative is more focused on the joy he has experienced in being both Evangelical and Catholic. Rating: 3 —CS 255p, Paper, Navpress 2008, $14.99 [280.04]… (altro)
