"Great Experiments with Light" is an experiment book that features a wide variety of activities featuring the properties of light. The book provides clear, detailed, step-by-step experiments and the illustrations effectively demonstrate what to do. The book also features a brief history of how light was used in ancient times. The book can be appropriate for children ages 6-8 as a tool to simply introduce how light works, but is not recommended to use for engaging students and leading them to an understanding of the scientific method. The format of the content is very simplistic - a concept about light is introduced, then the activity, and then the expected result - all in one page. To foster some sort of inquiry the authors could have incorporated, "what do think would happen?" types of questions rather than putting all the information about the activity in a single page.
