Overall Opinion:
Not sure if it was the writing style, flow of the story or direction it was going but I could no longer find the drive to complete June Faver “When to Call a Cowboy”. It just lacked the little something something to really pull me in and unfortunately it fell flat. As much as I appreciate the ARC, sadly I have decided to drop the series.

Reggie Lee is a daughter, a single mom, a reporter and a hometown girl. When her old high school nemesis, Frank, returns to Rambling, Texas, she just knows her life is about to change.

Frank now owns her newspaper where she works. By a twist of fate…Reggie Lee becomes the editor to this cash strapped outfit. Frank is now someone she must depend on to keep her job!

This is just a typical romance. No surprises or unique situations. But, I did enjoy the banter between Reggie Lee and Frank. These two have very good chemistry and they just made this story so much more enjoyable.

Need a sweet story with great characters …THIS IS IT!

I received this novel from the publisher for a honest review.

3.25/5 stars!

When the hero learns that his sister and her husband were killed in a plane accident, he immediately makes sure that his nephew and niece are in his care. When he learns that the legal guardian of the two young children is the heroine, he has mixed feelings about it due to their first meeting. Yet as time passed by, the two fall in love and learn that there was more to their siblings's deaths. Interspersed within the story are the Garrett family and some situations arising during this time.

I enjoyed the Garrett family's closeness and how wonderful they are with the young children under their care. The book also has that small-town vibe that makes it charming and makes the heroine fall in love with the place. It also helps that certain townspeople became quite close to the heroine, who really needed them in her life. I do feel like the story needed more details for a smooth transition but that's my personal preference. This is a nice addition to this Juen Faver series and I look forward to more of the characters getting their happy endings.

**Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the review copy.**

Cowboy Christmas Homecoming by June Faver
Dark Horse Cowboys #4

Zach and Stephanie meet and the rest of the book tells how they end up with their HEA. Zach is back from the war and the ranch he thought would be his was sold by his mother so he is at is uncle’s ranch instead. Stephanie is a firefighter and has her eye on two orphans that need her. There is a bad guy out to do Stephanie wrong but Zach usually shows up in the nick of time to save her. There is a dance. There are some firefighting scenes. The bad guys show up a few times and are thwarted. People from past books make appearances. A special surprise arrives for Zach. The two eventually end up together and ride off into the sunset...well...maybe after they say their vows.

This book seemed formulaic to me. I didn’t feel any real pull between the two main characters and felt the story was rather placid with one plot idea following another without really drawing me in. There wasn’t anything wrong with the characters or their story but there wasn’t anything special about them or their romance either.

Did I enjoy this book? Not so much
Would I read more in this series? No

Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for the ARC – This is my honest review.
