Born in 1901, Andreas Embiricos worked in the offices of the London-based Byron Steamship Company (which belonged to his family) between 1921 and 1925. He later moved to Paris, where he joined the surrealist group of Andre Breton. Among his many books are Blast Furnace and Argo, or The Voyage of a mostra altro Balloon.
