David Elliott, the grandson of Charles Fairfax Murray, was educated at Marlborough. After Army service in Military Intelligence in Austria, he went into a career in advertising, beginning as a writer and progressing to management positions with the US Interpublic Group of Companies in London, New mostra altro York and Australia. Many examples of her artwork are represented, so I do consider this a worthwhile purchase. However, the author (a relative of some sort, I believe), does not discuss her artwork and its' merits as much as he presents a chronological lineage of Spartali's life and that of her husband, William James Stillman's life. More attention is paid to Spartali and her works, as Stillman was more of a "Sunday painter" rather than taking creating art as seriously as Spartali did.
Still, it is a welcome addition to my art history section of my home library.… (altro)
