Ellen Eisenberg is the Dwight and Margaret Lear Professor of American History at Willamette University in Salem, Oregon, where she has taught since 1990. The Jewish Oregon Story, 1950-2010 by Ellen Eisenberg, published by OSU Press, traces the history of Jewish Oregonians and their communities from 1950 to 2010, a period of dramatic change. The role of women in the Jewish community in Oregon is one of the main issues Eisenberg examines in her new book. By drawing on over 500 oral histories as well as other archival documents, the history is very fresh and personal.
