This is a traditional Cherokee legend about Ji-Stu, a trickster rabbit, who is very vain about his long, bushy tail. When Otter gets more attention for his sleek, shiny coat Ji-Stu gets jealous and tries to trick Otter out of his coat. Things don't go well, and in the end Ji-Stu learns a lesson and loses his beautiful tail.

The progression of this story's plot was very well paced and entertaining. This would be a great story to tell to kids that like predicting what will happen next in a story. The illustrations in this are very familiar for some reason, I'm not certain but I think that I've read other books with the same illustrator involved.

This Cherokee legend is about a rabbit and wildcat that go searching for the feathers of beautiful birds. They find much more than what they were hoping for, and learn games to teach their families at home. This story would be useful in teaching any age group about the beliefs and traditions of the Cherokees.
