Paul Durcan

Paul Durcan's introduction is fanciful and sometimes a bit silly, but ok, why not. The watercolours and drawings (a small but reliaible income, I suspect) are interesting, but really background to the oils, which are mid-sized and late (mainly later, in fact, than those in the Late Paintings catalogue) and great, beyond great. The way a body can be next to another without any clear dividing line, the way it can be on the canvas itself without any clear dividing line, the way everything just emerges, the idea of everything being of the world, everything ultimately being one, and yet this making real connection impossible because it's all just one big soup anyway... it's awful, terrible, wonderful.
