Contrary to the impression given by the title, this book is only concerned with Eryri (Snowdonia), roughly Caernarfonshire and Meirionnydd west of the afon Conwy and north of the Dyfi; north of the Mawddach but for the inclusion of Cadair Idris. Ynys Môn (Anglesey), Denbighshire and Flintshire are all omitted, not to mention Pen Llŷn and the Arans. Published in the mid-1980s, the warning in the introduction has long-since come to pass: "The information given, as far as is known, was accurate when collected, but inevitably time will erode its value." Despite all that, the books in this series are well put together with a mix of text, hand-drawn maps and sumptious photographs, giving them a sub-Wainwright, coffee-table vibe.
