This tells the story of Alice Henderson, a journalist for a small-town newspaper. One Wednesday, while at work, she receives a phone call from someone using a voice scrambler, with a disturbing message. At first, she doesn't think anything of it and thinks it might be about a story she's working on. Then, she gets another chilling message the following Wednesday. and hires a private investigator when the police investigation stalls. She is still not sure if this is personal or an attack against the newspaper until a threat is posed to her mother. She desperately wants to put an to this stalking but doesn't know who would want to stalk her. She can't figure out why it happens on Wednesdays. Does it have something to do with her own secrets she's hiding from her past or something in her present life?

I thought the ending was a bit rushed and things were tied up nicely but it didn't need to be so rushed.

Very quick read. Thoroughly enjoyed.

I will say the beginning of this book was very intriguing. I thought it very different and it really had me hooked from the first page. This made it a fast read and a page turner.

You understand that things can affect a family that you can't see on the outside. You never know what people are going through.

"He is not who he says he is." How true this is today with social media and other platforms. Do you really know someone?

The Promise by Teresa Driscoll
I have read all three books in this series. This was a total wow of a book! Every time I thought I had it figured out, something else happened. The central mystery could have been quite stereotypical, but became much more in the hands of this talented author. I also was not fond of the central character, but grew to care about and appreciate her as the story went on. Even the times that I guessed what might happen still stopped me in my tracks when the full picture was uncovered. I seriously had to stop and catch my breath and put thoughts together. I enjoyed this one and will be reading more from this author.

Who Needs Friends when you have Frenemy

When I picked up, I was excited because I had loved I Am Watching You by the same author last year. The book begins with Sophie on a train ride, hours from home, when she receives a devastating phone call that her 4-year-old son has been rushed to the hospital and in need of surgery. Sophie left Ben with her good friend Emma and her son Theo for just one night. How did this happen? Is she a bad mother is this her fault? Could it have been prevented? I found the character of Emma slightly off her rocker and a sociopath the whole way through and I loved every minute. I do not want to go too much into the details of the story because for a page turner like this one I think it is far better to go into it blind and guess at every turn. I found the lay out of the story very well done going from present day to flashback and giving the exact time of day in some chapters made you feel right there. Mark the husband you will go through a rollercoaster of what is his play in all this and when you find out you will not see it coming. Another four-star read in January excited to see what this author has planned next. For those of you who have it this is offered on Kindle Unlimited and very worth the read.
