Though at times insightful and honest, many of the stories are choppy, predictable, shallow, and awkward to read,
with macho hostility and threats...redeemed by a few good quotes:

"And why would anyone leave rich America?"
"Why not?" was the answer, when Nzuzi up front asked.
"Africa might have something better than money."

"She played tapes of American jazz, which sounded full of air."

"...but Zola knew that if people were to really stop acting white those invisible glasses should be banned.
With them you could understand science and medicine and live a long time.
