Pop Sonnets was perhaps one of the best reads in sonnets, aside from the wonderful William Shakespeare himself!

This wonderful set of poems has sonnets based on many pop culture hit songs. Each sonnet is written in the typical Shakespeare form (or English form) "a-b-a-b, c-d-c-d, e-f-e-f, g-g." All of the sonnets flow smoothly and do not seem to be to cheesy. Also, each sonnet fully describes the song it is based upon.

I absolutely loved this book! Each sonnet gave me a chuckle as I read them. It seemed as if Shakespeare could have written them himself!

Five out of five stars! I saw nothing wrong with this wonderful book of sonnets! I loved it!

I received this book for free through Goodreads First Reads.

Probably the best book I read all year. Spectacularly done. The only criticism would be that the thine/mine forms should be used before a word that begins with a vowel or H.

I loved this book. The sonnets read like Shakespeare, for the most part, but still retain the meanings of the pop songs. A nice variety of contemporary and more classic pop songs are included, so there's a little something for everyone.

Note: I received a digital ARC of this book through NetGalley.

Pop Sonnets by Erik Didriksen is clever, amusing, and on point. Shakespeare takes on Billy Joel, Green Day, Nicki Minaj and more in this collection of pop sonnets. I found myself singing them to the tune of the original songs in my head, and that made the book just that much more enjoyable! You can find a collection of the sonnets here. This is just a fun idea, very well put together, loved it!
