The Fielding Bible--Volume II di John Dewan
Amazing amount of research and data here. My favorite was the defensive scouting report on over 250 players. The writing is sub-par, but you can tell that the writing was an afterthought, the real star is the stats. I only wish that they had included a detailed list of how they derive the fielding rating at each position.

I can't believe in a world where we've adopted a formula as complex as the QB Rating as must know information for our sports broadcasts, that we're still handing out gold gloves to the likes of Derek Jeter & Rafeal Palmerio. This is mostly based on the method of which we gauge fielding prowess - with our lying eyes. Fielding stats have been since the beginning of baseball a Rubix Cube wrapped in an enigma - and the Fielding Bible is one of the biggest steps I've seen at unshrouding the mystery. The system for which the Bible is based is fairly simple and methodically thought out. It's by no means the end all of fielding stats, but it's a giant leap in the right direction.
