- Breve biografia
- Helga Deen was born to Dutch and German Jewish parents in Stettin, Germany. Her father moved back to The Netherlands as Nazi persecution during World War II increased. Helga's mother was sent to the concentration camp at Vught, where she worked for a time as a doctor. Helga kept a diary that was intended for her boyfriend, Kees van den Berg, who kept it hidden after the war. Following his death, his son presented the diary in 2004 to archivists in Tilburg. After Helga Deen's last diary entry in early July 1943, she was deported to Sobibór extermination camp and murdered. She was 18 years old. The diary was published in 2007 as Wenn mein Wille stirbt, sterbe ich auch: Tagebuch und Briefe.
