I'd wager that most kids won't be that interested. The rhyming is sometimes forced, things like budget cuts (although entirely applicable and true for today's libraries) are not usually interesting to kids, and some unnecessary political commentary just overall detracts.

As a school librarian, I enjoyed this book for the most part, but I think only other librarians will truly enjoy.

Texas Mother Goose is a collection of poems about Texas! Each poem talks about a different part of texas, ranging from the Gulf of Mexico to native animals like armadillos and javelinas!

This is a super cute book with tons of Texas versions of classic poems. One of my favorites was Breakfast with Humpty Dumpty! Each poem also has an illustration. I think kids will love to read these versions of their favorite poems!

This is a good example of folklore because it is a simple old-fashioned story set in the wild west with a clear moral of being generous to share with others.

A young boy and his abuelo (grandpa) ride into a town, and they are starving. They start making the soup with a single bean, and then they continue to mention how they had more ingredients from the previous towns and how that would make their stew so much better. With that, the town gives the men spices, potatoes, veggies, etc. to help make the stew so much better.… (altro)
