I liked this alright but there were some things that didn't work for me. When it was good, I was entranced by the world and the love story. But . . . There is some gender-essentialist language: a long-running joke about big dick energy vs. little dick energy. I didn't like how unrelenting Devraj was when it came to pursuing Isadora. She often said, "no" to his advances and he would just laugh. Devraj is a famous Bollywood actor and a powerful vampire, he isn't used to women turning him down so his ego takes a hit every time Isadora says, "no" to him. I don't know, maybe I'm feeling sensitive lately but that didn't sit well with me.

I liked this book and it does a good job setting up the series. However, I feel like it could have been like 100 pages shorter? The MMC has an inner wolf that is very talkative once he gets cursed and it didn't bother me too bad but I can see where it would be troubling for some. I've read books with similar devices (the wolf is really talky) that don't do it as well as this book did.

This is the 3rd book in the Stay a Spell series. I liked this better than Don't Hex and Drive but not as much as Wolf Gone Wild.

I thought Nico and Violet were interesting characters. I loved how sweet Nico was especially in the beginning of the book. Violet is all sass and I laughed so much when they were having limerick wars.

The plot of this book was fairly weak. Violet and Nico are opening a tattoo parlor and Violet is experimenting with magical ink that will help different supernatural creatures in different ways. The werewolf pack Nico came from gets wind of this and makes trouble. I thought their actions in the latter part of the book only somewhat made sense though I did like the ramifications after the resolution of that conflict.

This book is fairly spicy and honestly at times I wasn't loving it. Nico's wolf makes him an aggressive lover and that part just wasn't for me. I am glad they were enjoying themselves but at one point Nico pulls her hair to punish her and anything where there is pain inflicted to punish and not to pleasure during bedroom times is an ick for me.

I do plan to continue the series as I am enjoying the overall world and invested in the characters of the series.

I think this is a solid paranormal romance and worth reading.… (altro)
