Fran Craddock

Part I, by Martha Faw, covers the period 1874-1968, which includes the creation of the Disciples of Christ, Christian Woman’s Board of Missions to the creation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), ecumenical denomination.

Part II, by Nancy Heimer, covers 1968 to the time of the writing of the book in 1999.

Fran Craddock is the author of the numerous Appendices (pp. 215-263).

Much of the verbiage of the book centers on tedious (to me, at least!) details of various organization details and issues during the 125 year period. Part II seems very much like reading about the history of a political action committee, and the role of women therein.

Persons who are interested in learning something of the history of women and issues of the Disciples of Christ are likely to benefit from the book, at least up to the year 1999.

The book is enhanced by some photos and an historical timeline (one of the appendices). The book also has a nice index.… (altro)
