Mat Coward has written for "Fortean Times", so it's not surprising he has a collection of odd press cuttings; one of "Fortean Times" mainstays over the years.

"Cannibal victims speak out!" includes unfathomable news cuttings like "Clinging to a chrome post in the middle of the carriage was a nun about 30 years old, dishevelled, red-faced, and totally catatonic with alcohol. The arrival of a 12-stone man in a bright red beret and mirror shades, surprisingly, did little to alleviate his anxiety."

The only problem is that this is a slim volume in large font so it can be read very quickly, although, if you're like me, you'll want to re-read entries like "Mrs Thatcher pointed out several landmarks to ten-year-old Toby Blackledge from Bow, who sucked his orange lollipop and promised loyal support. He said afterwards, 'She stands for everything I believe in.'"

A humorous whodunit set in a convincing description of a future Britain in which the effects of over consumption of natural resources lead to new way of life. Great holiday read!
