so predictable. cute, but absurdly predictable.
The continued world building in this book was spot on. Though I did have slight difficulty picturing certain aspects of Kartasha. Mare and Denna really grow through this journey.
They both learn the value of themselves as unique entities, and the value, and strength they have together. Mare learns she is an excellent strategist when given the chance. Denna discovers her lineage and gains much needed control.
The new characters were well fleshed-out, and full of personality. The twists and turns will feel familiar and surprising in equal measure. Mz. Coulthurst has definitely out done herself. Though I strongly recommend reading ink Mistress before this book for some much needed background.… (altro)

Alright! Let's do this. this book was really cute. I love Mare, girl after my own soul. seriously she felt like someone took my inner workings and spliced them with my ideal partner. The world building was spot on; perfect balance of explanation and holding back. Writing style was totally my thing. Nice and easy, flow wise. Got second hand embarrassment in certain spots.
this one was a fascinating dive into the past of the world from Of Fire and Stars. It was interesting to see the beginning of one of the major plot points from OFAS.
the world building was intriguing, I would love to learn more about the gods in this world. Asra was a bit of a wash for me. It took far too long for her to realize her strength and value. Ina's ambition and desire for control and power were fascinating and frustrating.
