Cotterrell is unquestionably the lead scholar on Durkheim and the law, and this book serves as a careful overview of his learning on the field. Effectively conveys both the strengths and the weaknesses of Durkheim's thinking about the law, and considers why he is not more influential today (having lost the field to Weber for the most part). I'm especially excited by the suggestions about why people feel a sense of legal obligation which remains a mystery for those who view law as a system of rules.… (altro)
