Everybody has a grudge against Vernon A. Roberts, a wealthy lawyer. When he is poisoned at a fundraiser on a ranch, nearly everyone becomes a suspect. Izzy, a caretaker for the elderly Miss Fanny, is alarmed by the conversations she overhears pertaining to Mr. Roberts. Izzy becomes a brave amateur detective and truly won my heart.

I received this book from the author for an honest review.

I totally enjoyed this cozy mystery. Wanda, the main character is endearing—even if she is a busy body. Then there’s her nephew, Todd, the rookie cop who does not want to get in trouble due to his aunt’s meddling, He also doesn’t want her to get hurt. But suspected robbers might be hiding nearby after a jewelry heist in another town. Wanda intends to be helpful when she sets up a neighborhood watch organization and her friends are all involved in the effort. It’s just delightful to see how supportive they are for each other. I read the first book in this series, One Leaf Too Many, and enjoyed it. This mystery was just as good as the first. One of the aspects of this series that I find heart warming is how the three friends stick together and truly help each other, not only emotionally but spiritually. And Jessica is in need of a great deal of assistance. From the moment she meets her biological father in prison, she believes he is innocent. But delving into the past is dangerous and soon Jessica isn't sure who she can trust. Really a worth while read!… (altro)

Inspired by the "Begats" of Matthew in the Bible, Bailey sets off to discover her family's past. Piecing it all together turns out to be a dangerous proposition because someone doesn't want the truth to come out in the open. This lively, page-turning mystery kept me intrigued all the way through. Highly recommended.
