I collect these old Gothic mystery/romance novels. I also like to take them down and read one along with all the other books in my TBR list. I especially enjoy reading the ones by more obsure authors. This author was completely unknown to me and the book was only 158 pages long, so I pulled it out and read it in about an hour. Many times I find a real gem when reading these lesser known authors. But, this one wasn't very good at all. The plot was too full of holes. The bulk of the book has our heroine dodging blackmailers. This part of the story fizzled to a non conclusion. We never learned how these people knew so much about her, although we had our suspects. Why the author didn't just tell us outright who it was, just in case we wanted to be sure we had it figured out right, I don't know. The other part of the story did bring our heroine some closure as she finds out what happened to her mother, and she finds romance along the way. Over all a C-/D+… (altro)
