A good story about Grier ( a successful career woman) returning to her home town and not expecting to learn about herself and her past.

Unlike part two that takes up where part one ended, part three starts up nineteen months later. Holden has left Nashville to go back to Georgia to be with Sarah while she undergoes treatment for cancer. He stills writes songs for Thomas and sends them to him but it’s just Thomas and CeCe continuing on, playing in bars and clubs as Barefoot Outlook. They’ve grown together and have become close friends that complement each other on the stage hoping that the two of them alone can catch that break that they thought they had found when Holden was still in the picture. It’s only when someone takes interest in one of Holden’s song and wants to add it to his new album that things take another turn. He’s determined to do the right thing and stay with Sarah leaving the past in the past but she’s moved on with someone new and wants Holden to do the same.

Things have changed when Holden returns though, he’s now the one that’s single and CeCe is the one in a relationship. Can they be around each other every day and pretend that they don’t have feelings for each other? Can they be friends who encourage each other’s success or will there past break everything and everyone apart? Just when everything seems to be going in the right direction, the bottom drops out and then…all you see is The End. In true fashion of the construction of this series you are left with a cliffhanger that leaves you needing more.

Amazing from Start to Finish
I think I might be the only person who preferred Thomas over Holden even in the first book. Don’t go yelling at me I love Holden and Cece! But Thomas has such an interesting story that you can’t help but love the person He is inside and out.

Thomas Franklin’s life has reached a point that he always dreamed that it would be but never truly believed that it would. His only wish is that he could find a girl like Holden did in CeCe. He thought he did at one time before they had ever become famous but after one night, he never saw her again. When he agrees to be a special guest for Cage Phillips with an event, he never would have thought that he would once again run into Lila but there she was. He’s determined that he will not let her go without at least trying to talk to her but when she once again disappears, he never would have imagined the secret that she had kept from him for the past seven years, nor how that secret would change his life forever.

He was so sweet where Holden was a complete douche at first. Thomas never once faltered though and backed off when he saw that Holden had feelings for her. He’s one of those perfect good guys even when he lost his way a bit and I was so happy that he’s finally getting his own story. This book was amazing! I loved every minute of Lila and Thomas’ story except the end and that is only because I wasn’t ready for it to end on another cliffhanger.

Part four takes up where part three left off. CeCe, Thomas, Holden, Beck and Case have been shot after a show by a crazed, irate fan that never made it in the music business. One of them will not make it. What the shooter leaves behind in his wake is the grief that those left behind do not know how to deal with, the guilt of living when others have died. As they struggle to become whole again the record company pushes them to complete the obligations that they signed up for.

This one was an emotional read because they are each struggling in their own way and are going it alone for so much of the book rather than to rely on each other, each of them just kind of going through the motions but not really seeing what’s around them. Thankfully this book does have a happy ending though and while it’s not so much a cliffhanger, it does end abruptly like the others did. I cried a little, laughed a little, but at the end of the book I was so happy. I cannot wait to read how Thomas falls in love; however, I hope we don't lose CeCe and Holden. I would love for there story to continue as well. I also loved the path chosen for Case. He could have a book of his own. If you like music this series of books is awesome! Inglath Cooper includes songs she has wrote herself in each book. This aspect of these books really draws me in, because writing a book is hard but writing a song to go with the book is a whole different aspect. It is really awesome! I will be continuing onto book five because these books and this series is an awesome pick-me-up to a long week.
