Breve biografia
Marie-Louise-Félicité Angers was born in Quebec and educated by Ursuline nuns. She took up writing under the pseudonym Laure Conan and lived a comfortable and retired life. She remained unmarried. She was best known for her novels Angeline de Montbrun (1884) and A l’Oeuvre et a l’epreuve (The Master-motive: a Tale of the Days of Champlain, 1891). She's considered the first French-Canadian female novelist. All her novels centered on three driving forces of French-Canadian life: family, nation, and religion.
