This book is meant for young adult librarians who want to interest teen participation at the library through environmentally friendly activities. There are two sections, one to give an overview on how to be green, what resources to buy and how to advertise events. The second half is the list of crafts and projects, organized by subject, which you can host in the library. Each craft includes: description, program themes suggestion, materials list, instructions, tips, photographs and a ranking of how expensive it is between one and five $. An additional resource they give for each craft is websites and books for teen participants to look at if they want to do further research on the subject the activity covers. The art projects rely heavily of recycled material and found objects, which is appropriate for the theme, but makes the projects seem pretty juvenile. The book does give a lot of varying ideas for creativity and community outreach that could be great starting points and are all fairly cheap if you are working with a very limited budget. Teacher librarians wishing to involve teens in more “green friendly” ideas will find a plethora of them in this new publication. From basic supplies to one hour and inexpensive programs to thematic celebrations of “green” the teacher librarian has sets of templates and ideas for program planning. The publication also offers a chance for teens to bring recycling materials from their own homes into the library and make something with them.
