It is a basic recap of the year 1961. It was ok, a lot of different subjects covered. This book would have been better if it had been done month by month then with the subjects that didn't fit the month to month aspect placed in the various categories like it was. The ads were very interesting.

A fascinating grab bag of the America that was, advertisements and all. Pop culture, novels, technology. commodities, decor, news flashes, graphics, politics, the space race, labor unions, airplanes ("Halfway to Europe between cocktails and coffee")... And oh, the clothes, the clothes...!

I admit it, I succumbed to the silliness of seeing how the world looked the year I was born, as if my entering it may have changed it in some basic way~ still, it was fun. I would think that this would be especially enjoyable as a party gift for an important birthday celebration as a way to open conversations into the past.
