Lois Vaughan Cavalier

The book chronologically covers Vista's history from the early adobe days through it's period as the avocado capital of the world and it's post-WWII growth into the present. I give an Images of America book five stars when it makes me want to get in the car and go there. This book didn't quite succeed, although I primarily fault the subject matter - trying to make Vista sound exciting is like trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. The photo captions that described historical buildings frequently contained the words "razed" or "demolished," which unfortunately is accurate. From the perspective of documenting Vista's history the coverage is interesting and adequate, but I was left with a rather bland feeling about the present.… (altro)
