- Patricia Carson werd geboren in Engeland en studeerde geschiedenis aan de Universiteit van London. Sinds haar huwelijk met Prof. dr. em. Raoul C. van Caenegem woont ze in Afsnee. Bij Lannoo verscheen van haar de succesvolle boeken Vlaanderen in creatieve contrasten en Het fraaie gelaat van Vlaanderen.
Patricia Mary Carson was born in Oreston, a suburb of Plymouth, England. She graduated from London University with a bachelor's degree in history, then earned a master's degree with a thesis on 18th-century London. In 1954, she married Raoul Van Caenegem, a Belgian professor of medieval history with whom she had three children and lived in Afsnee, Belgium, near Ghent. She specialized in the history of the relationship between England and the Low Countries. Her most popular and successful book was The Fair Face of Flanders (1969), which was reprinted numerous times and translated into several different languages. In recognition of her work, in 1996 she was made a baroness in the Belgian peerage.
