The good thing about going into your attic to locate something is.. you find other things you forgot you had or never knew you had. And so my husband found this lovely collection. I don't ever remember seeing this before. It's got all sorts of wonderful writings by authors I've loved; Langston Hughes, Isaac Asimov, Albert Camus, George Orwell, E.B. White. And the writings are so varied; there are short, short stories, weird little anecdotes, persuasive essays. I read a great 2 page autobiographical narrative by Langston Hughes just now, called Salvation. And an absolutely lovely piece by May Sarton called The Rewards of Living a Solitary Life. There are other curious titles that are just begging to be read: How to Cook a Carp by Euell Gibbons (oh remember him?) And a writing by Richard Howey called How to Write a Rotten Poem with Almost No Effort. Now doesn't everyone want to know how to write a rotten poem w/no effort! .. Another title is simply called Bicycles. It's only 3 pages long... And so I've got a lot of interesting reading ahead of me in this anthology!… (altro)

A very good textbook for students and writers alike, I learned a lot of useful things from this book.

Used as a textbook for one of my college courses, I've kept it because there are many good short stories in here that are definite keepers.
