William Henry Burt (1903–1987)

William Henry Burt was born on January 22, 1903, in Haddam, Kansas. He attended the University of Kansas, where he received an A.B. in 1926 and an A.M. degree in 1927. Burt earned his Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley in 1930. Burt was a research fellow at California Institute of mostra altro Technology from 1930 to 1935. From 1935 to 1941, he was first an instructor and then a professor of zoology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. During this time he also served as curator of mammals at the Museum of Zoology.
