[Disclaimer: I got this book via LibraryThing's Early Reviewer program] I must say that I did not like how this book has been written. Note that I have nothing against its starting point: that the sudden disappearance of hundreds of millions people would be the beginning of the fact we can read in the Book of Revelation, in the very words of St John the Divine. I don't object either to the fact that the main characters experience visions, celestial and satanic. Were it hust for these things, the plot could be interesting. But my impression is that Bullock explicitly believes that he must convert his readers to the Real faith (preferably before the end of the world) and does this in a naive way, with useless spoilers and a lot of repetitions of the same stories: the Rapture is told numberless times, every time a new Smyrnian is brought into the team, and sometime more. Actually the last chapters, which prepare the setting for the following book in the series, are more enjoyable; maybe the future works will be better. A last thought: it is funny to read the Book of Revelation in a literal way, but at this point we should also remember Matthew 25,13: «Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.»… (altro)
