Breve biografia

J.L. Bryan studied English literature at the University of Georgia and at Oxford, with a focus on English Renaissance and Romantic literature. He also studied screenwriting at UCLA. Most of his writing wanders into the horror or science fiction genres, reaching into the darker depths of human nature, where things are often scary or funny.

He lives in Atlanta with his wife Christina and assorted pets. They have an organic and natural pet supply store (www.momandpups.com, which is where his cats and dogs often blog). He's really getting into ebooks by indie authors lately. His website is www.jlbryanbooks.com

I enjoyed this book, but it took me quite a while to read because I can't read it late at night. My mind tends to go on with whatever I'm reading in my dreams and this was not a book I wanted to dream about. I like Ellie and the other characters well enough to give book 2 a try.

Raven is a likable character. In fact, the author made you care for all the characters. As I was nearing the end of the story, I realized that it made me think of Doctor Who. How he travels back and forth through time to change things. This is the first book I've read by JL Bryan but I don't believe it will be the last.
I'd seen this book promoted on several facebook pages and thought it looked interesting. I held off on purchasing it at first just because I'd recently purchased several others. I jumped at the chance to win it when I saw LK Rigel's status. I started reading it immediately after I had completed the book I was on. Little did I realize how much I would LOVE this book in that I would stay up until 5 am reading the book. I reluctantly put it down with about 50 pages to go because I did have to work the next afternoon.

I got this as a freebie and thought it might be fun. I was not disappointed.

This has sort of a ghostbusters vibe to it, with nastier ghosts. I was wondering where the story would go when they caught the ghost they were after halfway through, but I was pleasantly surprised by the turn of events. It wasn't a frightening read, but it would make one heck of a scary movie! I loved the Georgia setting, the desperate homeowners who were being haunted (although I did want to exorcise Dale a time or two), and Ellie's sidekicks. Worth the time, and I will likely be picking up another of these books!… (altro)

I really enjoyed this. Well written with great characters. It definitely gave haunted house (or rather, haunted amusement park) vibes.
