This small pamphlet first appeared as a serial inthe September and December 1946 issues of the Wisconsin Magazine of History. It gives an amusing and informative overview of early Wisconsin settlers in Sauk County as well as early Madison after their move. The father was Quaker & a depiction of their customs was given. Melissa and her brother owned the University Book Store (called College Book Store, at one point). Anecdotes of neighbors, both in Sauk County as well as Madison, are given.
It was a bit disconcerting to have her refer to herself in the third person as "the twins" instead of saying "me" or "my sister & I".… (altro)
