I had a very hard time getting through this very short collection of stories and poems. There were a couple of stories that had great potential, but they were sabotaged by grandiose language and overblown personification.

As a reader I can't match the tone of epic literature with a short story. It's like putting pickles on your PB&J. It's just, off.

There was one short story about coal country that I might have enjoyed had it actually been a story and not a commentary riddled with quotes and fractured imagery. The story ideas in this book are great, they just aren't fleshed out.

I wish I could be more positive but I can't. All of these writers have potential, but it wasn't realized in this collection.
