Less of a versus and more of a team-up, with the new White Queen of Wonderland meeting Sela Mathers from the Grimm Fairy Tales universe to defeat a common foe. Like a lot of team up stories, there is a lot of fighting built round a fairly lightweight plot. In terms of Wonderland continuity, this 4-part mini-series fits between issues 25 & 26 (GN vols.5 & 6) of the Wonderland ongoing series, and presumably sets up a big bad for later on. Grimm Fairy Tales vs. Wonderland is available as a collected GN, but currently only in paperback, not e-book, so for digital copies you need to get the individual issues.… (altro)

The 5-part miniseries collected here ties in with Zenescope's Age of Darkness crossover event, which presumably explains who the Trickster is and what motivates her, because I had no clue. The Ebony Blade has returned to Wonderland, which is odd, because I never knew it had been lost. I thought the Queen of Spades had it all along. Maybe I need to reread the Wonderland ongoing series again. Anyhow, the Trickster pits the Queens against each other to retrieve the Blade. A couple of main characters are written out because they fall victim to the blade. The story happens somewhere before the Wonderland Age of Darkness one-shot, which itself occurs somewhere around issue 23 (vol.5) of the Wonderland ongoing series. This was my first exposure to the Grimm Fairy Tales comics and it was enough to send me searching for more, specifically for Unleashed, the series for which this is a tie-in.

I thought, going in, this would be horror with little substance, and I was okay with that. But there is a great deal of substance here. It gives the backstories of Elijah (Zombies) and Masumi (Demons).

I liked the artwork and the colors, though the artwork was uneven from issue to issue.

If you're looking for a way into this comic series, I recommend this (and hopefully the other) tie-in books.
