This picture-book story of Mary Anning and her family's finding of the ichthyosaur when she was twelve may be somewhat exaggerated (the rickety scaffolding incident, for instance) but it is a well told introduction to one of the first female paleontologists and her famous first find. Children will identify with her and her brother Joe. A nice book to pair with other stories such as The Girl Who Drew Butterflies.

Galileos daughter is awake during the day while her father sleeps because he studies the skies at night. She gets curious and goes up the stairs to his room and finds all of his interments on a desk, but knows not to touch. She finds a treausre box and opens it, she finds 5 things in the box, that are used for his work, but she finds a feather and he explains thats important to his work, but places it in her hair. She parades around wearing it.
I thought this book was somewhat boring, but I also couldn't understand the point of it either, but overall it was cute regardless.… (altro)

This was about Galileo's daughter. I thought it was a really bad book because it did not tell you much about Galileo at all unless you read the introduction and the authors note but even then it was pretty limited information. It also had no plot and was very short, simple, and uneventful. In the end she finds a feather and it just stops and the only way that would mean anything to the reader is if you already know the discoveries he made with physics with a feather. I think this story could be good if it was continued and added in some more information about the characters and the instruments that were used.… (altro)

I really didn’t like this book. I don’t think the story went anywhere, it didn’t mean anything, and it felt like a waste of time the entire 2 minutes it took me to read it. This book had a lot of potential, but it really fell flat. The illustrations were pretty cool, and I enjoyed looking at them, but they added nothing to the story just like the words.
The plot of the story was just Galileo's daughter going about her day, but it wasn't really clear as to why. The setting had NO effect on the plot of the story, because nothing about this book makes sense really.… (altro)
