- John Branfield was born in 1931 in Burrow Bridge, Somerset, England. He received his MA from Queens' College, Cambridge in 1956. He was awarded his M.Ed. in 1972. He taught English and headed the English department at Camborne Grammar School in Cornwall, England beginning in 1961.
