- Mel Boring does not, in truth, live up to his name. He has been, variously, a one-room-school teacher, a junior high and high school steacher, and the editor of a children's literature Web site. His wife (a registered nurse) and his children, with their great enthusiasm serve as inspiration as he works on his books. Mr. Boring lives in Rockford, Iowa, with his family.
