Excellent no-nonsense advice for human beings. Regardless of your creed and beliefs, these pages offer honest advice for real life and its ugly moments. It's definitely not a replacement for actual therapy, but it's great support for those days when you just don't want do do anything

Never mind the missed school buses, the nasty cases of chicken pox and the miserable teenage years. Ida Eisenhower explains why she likes being a mother to a boy: "Boys are the best investments in the world. They pay the biggest dividends." Although uneven, there are some nuggets here, especially the pieces by Anna Quindlen (on catching lightning bugs), Louise Erdrich (on "rocking, breathing, groaning, mouthing circles of distress, laughing, whistling, pounding, wavering, digging, pulling, pushing" through labor) and Jana Riess (on the "ten best books about motherhood that have spoken to me in a deep and memorable way")… (altro)

Good book which I've used oftentimes for material (Mother's Day) in public speaking events. Short chapters and single line quotes from a variety of women who reflect on being a mother to children when it's hard and when it's easy.
