Sull'Autore
Charles Booth was a British social reformer and social scientist who was also a wealthy shipowner and industrialist. His monumental 17-volume classic, The Life and Labour of the People of London, 1890-1900, based on statistical and descriptive data, revealed to cite just one finding that 30 percent mostra altro of the people of London lived below the line of poverty. Booth was a methodological and sociological precursor of Robert Ezra Park and the Chicago School of urban studies. Subsequent community studies owe something to his work. Booth died in 1916.
