Most of the designs are very outdated and not really my style. The overall feel of the book is kind of quirky country craft, but circa 1990.

I bought this at a library sale for $3 just for the cute bookshelf pattern. It worked up nicely, but I get very tired of cutting from templates and piecing odd shapes. You can tell this book was from before the rotary cutter revolution and I no longer have the patience for hand marking little template pattern after little template pattern…

I am pleased with the project I created from this book, but I'd never make any of the other patterns in it.

This author was one of the first national quilt teachers during the quilt revival of the early 80's. She had a very successful TV show before modern cable TV networks. Her series of books were extremely popular and this still has a lot of useful info.
Ms Bonesteel popularized quilting in segments and joining the sections of quilted blocks at the end.

202. Spinning Spools by Georgia Bonesteel; Vol. 1. (Three Ring Hardback Binder) A pattern club for Quilters started in the 1980’s. Once a month packets included everything you needed for 3 quilting patterns; full size vinyl templates, instructions, and a newsletter. Each pattern is rated with one, two, or three spools to indicate level of difficulty. These are then stored in a sturdy 3-ring binder with a dozen divider sheets to keep them organized. This Binder has 54 complete patterns, divided into 10 categories, with 5 or 6 patterns each. Each pattern instruction sheet features a color drawing of the block, block assembly notes, a color drawing of a suggested quilt setting, & full instructions for making your own lovely quilt or wall hanging. Patterns as follows:
