A fairly thorough guide that fulfils the criteria in the lengthy title pretty well. For someone who does not know much about the process of writing, or who has no idea what other pages (eg the introduction) are needed, this provides a useful set of instructions. Each chapter comes with a brief summary list at the end, making the book ideal for dipping into.

However, I had hoped to learn more about marketing, and found much of the advice irrelevant. Many of the recommendations involve a pushiness that I am not capable of, and (in one case) a manipulative technique that did not seem entirely legitimate. I also found the the author's promotion of her own books, with endless examples, and reminders of titles, to be overwhelming and somewhat annoying. No doubt that was another marketing ploy, but it didn't work on me.

If you want to write a book, and have most of the actual content but no idea how to turn it into a book, or if you're outgoing and would some ideas about how to promote your book, then this could be very useful. But I ended up skimming a lot of it, and am unlikely to read it again.… (altro)
