I would actually rate this a 3.5 if that was a possibility. This second book was easier for me to get through than the first. There is still a lot of proper language that makes it seem awkward to me, but it's less and we see more conversation how we would talk today. There's also still the similarities to Twilight and Charmed, but less so, and now at the end I even saw a little similarity to True Blood. But the storyline has taken a different turn, so it's more interesting to me than the first book was. I am very hopeful that the books will continue to get better as I continue to read the series.… (altro)

I did like this book, there are just a few things that could have made it better. The style of writing was a bit hard to get through. Everything was very proper, no contractions, and it didn't flow very easily. The story itself was a good one though, think Twilight with a girl vamp and boy human, but then mix a bit of Charmed in there as well with the Witch sisters discovering their powers and inheriting their Book of Shadows from their Grams. I loved both Twilight and Charmed so that side appealed to me, but I would have liked a bit more differences. I do want to see what happens with the family and with Nathanial, so I am interested to read the rest of the series.… (altro)

Again, maybe a 3.5 stars on this one. I am starting to like the storyline a lot more, even with all the similarities to other books and TV shows. The one thing that puts me off is the writing style and the errors throughout. This book interested me much more than the previous two though. I really wish that the editing process was better because if so I think this book, at least, could have been really good. The twist of events toward the middle of the book, in addition to having this book from the witches perspective made this book vastly different than the first two in terms of interest level for me. I hope the fourth book is even better.… (altro)

This was definitely my favorite in the series. I think it had a lot to do with the crossover into Mary Ting's Crossroads series, which to be honest is why I picked up this series to begin with. In addition to that, I also felt this story has more original ideas that branched off from the Twilight and Charmed comparisons. They were still there, it just wasn't as much and not as in your face as in the other books. I do feel that in spite of the struggle I had dealing with the way this author writes, I came to really love the characters and that's very important in a book series that sticks with the same set of characters throughout. Parts were a little overly sappy for me, but I was truly happy for Sophia and everyone else when their dreams came true. I will read book 5 when it comes out to see how everyone is doing.… (altro)
