Love the illustrations, like the frenemies angle. It's a little long for storytime, but really funny visually.

One woman's story of how she was trafficked into a life of prostitution. She grew up in an ordinary family, but longed for love - as most young girls do. She also needed money for school so when a friend suggest dancing as a way to earn extra cash she decided to try it out. From there she met a guy who lured her into a relationship and relocating. She had a daughter from a previous relationship and even her daughter became a way for the men to control her and force her into situations where she felt like she had to do what they said or they might separate her from her daughter. It was fascinating to see how this all went down and to learn about an entirely different world that I knew little about. It was also heartening to see God's power eventually lead her out of the darkness - but it was very gradual and at times frustrating to see her take a few steps backward before eventually breaking free. Highly recommended if you want to learn more about the real life situations that cause women to be trapped in these kinds of situations. It doesn't get too graphic, but it's not a happy read in places so read only if you want an honest look at real life.… (altro)

Rebecca Bender speaks raw and emotional truth throughout this entire book. The highs and lows of a life that was trapped for years by sex traffickers; but also her strong faith and the power of prayer that lead her to healing and a life that promised happiness and purpose. I was honored to be offered an advanced ecopy of this book from the publisher and as I read I felt compelled to share it's message. Rebecca's story is one about the harsh reality of sex trafficking in the U.S. and each page reminded me that if this can happen to her there are many women still trapped. This book needs to be spoken about everywhere. Awareness is needed and important - just like this book.… (altro)
