Breve biografia
This is the Dutch name for Hortense Eugénie Cécile Bonaparte (née de Beauharnais), Queen Consort of Holland. She was the daughter of the Empress Josephine by her first husband, a French nobleman, and the stepdaughter of the Emperor Napoleon. He arranged Hortense's marriage to his brother Louis, whom he then made King of Holland. In 1810, Louis abdicated his throne, the couple split up, and Hortense returned to France with her children (one of whom became Napoleon III, Emperor of the French). Hortense lived with her lover Charles Joseph, comte de Flahaut. But she continued to support her stepfather and was eventually exiled from France for it. She traveled in Germany and Italy before settling at the Château of Arenenberg in the Swiss canton of Thurgau in 1817 and died at age 54.
