While I do believe that the stories of Rosie and Skate would have been the same with or without their drunk father, I still liked how the story turned out. I felt sometimes during the alternating viewpoints like "and what does her drunk father have to do with this? What role does his drunkenness play in this?" because I just felt that that was just thrown in there. This story covered more of their own personal issues that didn't include or was influenced by their father until the very end. It was when their feelings switched on their last visit to him when I finally understood more in that aspect.

Angel is by far an actual angel. She is flawed main character who knows she is flawed, which is why I devoured this book. I love the way the author wrote the character. Angel is an uninhibited 17 yeard old who doesn't mind sleeping with multiple guys. She wants to get back with her ex, but he doesn't want to get back with her just because she feels like it at the moment. He loved her and wants her to be committed. We follow Angel through her summer escapades and into the school year. She doesn't know what she wants from life, she has an interesting family dynamic with a mother who doesn't know what she wants from life, yet Angel is very aware of herself and her actions. Since I'm from NJ and have worked in Seaside Heights, I loved all the references to The Heights, the boardwalk, and the bay. Very well done. Be aware there is a lot of sexual content for a YA book.… (altro)
